As your own patient advocate, you are an active participant, but to be effective you have to develop your own health literacy. That means knowing where to obtain credible and timely healthcare information, and then reading and understanding it so you can ask questions and make well-informed decisions directly impacting your health. In 2019, Chippewa Valley Technical College (CVTC) was awarded a $2.5 million grant from the Department of Education to create 5 nursing open educational resources (OER) textbooks and 25 virtual reality scenarios.
