Use of podcasts to reduce misinformation in the time of COVID-19: A collaboration of librarians, healthcare providers, and community organizations

Abstract

This presentation will share information about a project funded by the All of Us project in conjunction with the National Library of Medicine. It showcases the use of podcasts to promote health literacy and inform the Latinx community about relevant health topics, during the Covid -19 Pandemic. It is a collaboration of Spanish speaking healthcare providers, librarians, and community organizers. The goal is to educate and reduce misinformation within this community about relevant health issues.

Ransomware Attacks: What Medical Librarians Need to Know

On January 11, 2018, Hancock Health in Greenfield, Indiana experienced a ransomware attack on the hospital's information systems. The hackers used compromised account credentials to target a server located in the emergency IT backup facility. This caused havoc with critical information systems. The University of Vermont Health Network in Burlington, Vermont was attacked on October 8, 2020, with malware infecting hospital information systems.

Connecting Climate Change, Mosquitoes, and Community Health

Scientists use environmental data obtained from NASA satellites to create regional predictive risk models of mosquito-borne disease outbreaks.
