Health Information Outreach Award $20,000

The purpose of the Health Information Outreach Award is to provide support for projects that improve health information literacy and increase the ability of patients, family members, students, and members of the public to find and use health information; or improve health professionals’ access to, awareness of, and skills for locating high-quality biomedical and health information. Awards should focus on building partnerships, collaborating with local community groups, and other key groups to reach underserved populations in the region with health information outreach projects.

Data Science and Services Project Award $25,000

The award’s primary aim is to focus on projects that stimulate innovations in biomedical knowledge or data science, information, or research services. The programs are intended to help a variety of users, with a focus on minority and other underrepresented populations and the health professionals who serve them, make the most effective use of information and decision-support resources that hold the promise of promoting healthy behaviors, preventing costly and debilitating illness, and improving health outcomes when disease occurs.

Express Outreach Award Addressing Health Misinformation $5,000

The Network of the National Library of Medicine Region 5, under cooperative agreement with the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM), announces the availability of funding through its Express Outreach Award Addressing Health Misinformation to help mitigate the spread of health misinformation through projects that equip community members with the tools to identify misinformation, make informed choices about what information they share, and address health misinformation in their communities. Region 2 Exhibit Award $2,000

The Exhibit Award provides funding for exhibits at state and/or local meetings of health professionals, information professionals and health consumers. It provides an opportunity to promote NLM products, Region 2 programs or Region 2 member libraries to target populations. Funding covers registration and booth fees, travel and per diems, communication costs, and equipment rental if needed and associated costs for the exhibit.

The Research and Data Outreach Award is to support projects that innovate biomedical data management or support research data services within academic and health care institutions or help train the workforce for accessing, understanding, and using data for biomedical and public health information research and education.
