Health Stories in the Media | This class is designed to evaluate health stories in the media. This course will address how health information is reported in news outlets and popular media and teach you how to analyze these health claims critically. Analysis of news stories involves critical thinking; you will be introduced to a rating instrument and practice exercises to develop this skill. Just as no study is perfect, no health story in the news is perfect – but developing this skill will aid you in identifying common reporting issues and teach you how and where to seek more information. |

Introduction to Precision Medicine | Introduction to Precision Medicine is an introductory, on-demand course for public librarians. This class is designed to introduce learners to the concept of precision medicine, the NIH All of Us Research Program (All of Us), and how All of Us contributes to advancing precision medicine. This course will provide the learner with resources to support patrons with questions or concerns about precision medicine and related health topics. |
LGBTQIA+ Health Information & Resources (Moodle) | The class aims to provide culturally appropriate health information and resources for LGBTQIA+ populations and the librarians and health care practitioners who support them. We have done our best to use culturally sensitive language and examples recognizing that language on this topic, like gender and sexuality, can be fluid. Providing access to health information for and about these populations is extremely important. |

Making Sense of Numbers: Communicating Numerical Health Information | Numeracy is the ability to access, use, interpret, and communicate mathematical information and ideas, to engage in and manage mathematical demands of a range of situations in adult life. (CDC, 2021). Numeracy literacy can be a challenge not only for individuals receiving health information, but also for those providing information. This 90 minute/1.5 credit hour webinar is an introduction to communicating numerical health information. |

Mental Health in the Workplace | Many of us spend 40 or more hours a week at work, so it is unsurprising that the workplace affects our mental health and well-being. The first half of this 1-hour webinar will look at improving workplace mental health and wellbeing following the U.S. Surgeon General framework of 5 essential components for workplace mental health and wellbeing. MeSH Highlights Annual Webinars | Join NLM staff for a highlight tour summarizing the annual updates for Medical Subject Headings (MeSH). Every year, updates are made to MeSH, the NLM controlled vocabulary thesaurus used for indexing articles for PubMed and for cataloging books and other resources. National Center for Data Services (NCDS) Short Course | The NCDS short course provides an opportunity to grow in special topics of data librarianship and services. The topic changes annually, and it is based on trending areas of importance to health information professionals. The target audience can consist of those who have no experience with data services as well as experienced practitioners. The short course is typically offered in the spring. |

NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy Overview | The NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy that will go into effect in January 2023 will require funded researchers to submit a plan outlining how scientific data from their research will be managed and shared. This session is intended for information professionals who are unfamiliar with this policy and will review the policy components and how you can prepare to address the policy at your institution. |
