Subaward Project

Collection Equity Award

We want to provide books to our patrons about the health concerns they face. Some of our patrons are battling cancer while others are taking care of their spouse with dementia. We want to offer aging well books so they can plan a bit ahead for when the health issues start knocking at their door. mental health and self-care books are also becoming more vital because taking care of oneself becomes harder as we age. We are a year-round library that serves a tiny population that live here all year, but we can’t forget about the hundreds of visitors coming through our doors every day from June-September who utilize the library while they are vacationing in Ogunquit because it is a Vacation town. We want to offer a diverse set of books that gear toward LGBTQ youth along with buying books about mental health for children. We also hope to buy bodily autonomy books for kids. We want to make sure that every person that walks in can find themselves in a book.
