Building A Healthy BKLYN - NAPC Partnership Project Award
Through the Building A Healthy BKLYN program, Brooklyn Public Library (BPL)’s goals are to:
1) Partner with the NNLM All of Us Program Center and Weill Cornell/NewYork-Presbyterian to provide monthly engagements, pop-up enrollment events, presentations, and staff trainings to connect with community members and encourage enrollment and retention in the All of Us Research Program;
2) Improve the health outcomes of Brooklyn’s 2.7 million residents through education and access to reliable, trustworthy information.
3) Increase the knowledge and capacity of library staff to promote and support positive health outcomes.
Project activities will target underserved, minority, and lower income populations in the Central Brooklyn neighborhoods of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, Flatbush, and East Flatbush. These communities are within proximity to NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital’s All of Us Enrollment Center in Park Slope. BPL will reach the intended audience through community partnerships, existing branch programming, outreach engagements through the Library’s Community Health Team, and a monthly newsletter, available in English and Spanish, which goes out to 3,000 subscribers sharing health programs and resources available at BPL.
