Subaward Project

Supplemental Collection Equity Award Y2 - University of Portland Library

If awarded, the Supplemental Collection Equity Award would support Nursing students and faculty at the University of Portland School of Nursing and Health Innovations (UPSONHI) with electronic and print books about the reproductive health (commonly referred to as maternal health) of Black people. The phrase reproductive health is used instead of maternal health due to its inclusionary nature of all people, regardless of their biological sex or social construct of race. Comparably, maternal health is focused on the health of women during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period (WHO, 2023). Reproductive health, for this grant submission, is defined as a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being in all matters relating to the reproductive system and to its functions and processes (WHO, 2023).
