Orlando Health Literacy Ambassador Program

The Orlando Health Literacy Ambassador will include: Train-the-Trainer projects using NLM resources that enhance the skills of public library/organization staff and other consumer health information intermediaries to train a target population on locating and evaluating health information within Orlando and surrounding communities. At the same time this program will improve understanding of and participation in medical research, including NLM health information resources and community resources into trainings with public library staff, community center employees, retirement/assisted living staff, healthcare professionals and community leaders either in-person or virtually. I will work to provide outreach to diverse and underrepresented populations bringing health literacy resources and services to those who need improved health literacy. By training others to teach health literacy education and know what resources to share with others, the health of those within the communities reached will be improved along with their quality of life.
