NIH Data Management and Sharing Policy Workshop On-Demand

This on-demand workshop offered in Moodle is intended for those without much experience working in research data management and will provide an overview of the NIH policy, research data management basics, and related resources.

Instructors from the NNLM National Center for Data Services (NCDS) and Nina Exner of Virginia Commonwealth University present 4 videos covering the following topics:

  1. Policy Overview, Potential Library Roles, and Research Data Management Basics
  2. Data Types, Tools, and Standards
  3. Data Preservation, Access, Distribution, and Oversight of Data Management and Sharing
  4. Data Interview and Additional Resources

There are 3 activities to complete:

  1. Reflection Activity
  2. Data Types in Repositories
  3. Analyzing a Data Management Plan
Objectives:
  1. Communicate the NIH DMSP policy in language that researchers, fellow librarians, or leadership at your institution will understand.
  2. Provide guidance for researchers on how to approach each section of a DMSP.
  3. Provide a general critique of a DMSP written by a researcher.
