Teleservices are also providing convenient access to attorneys, employers, immigration services, and more! Hear about Delaware Libraries telehealth journey and lessons learned through the years as well as online resources that we use including forms and more! The presentation will give opportunities for questions and end with an online guide of useful resources forms and contacts for further support.

Speaker Bio

Alta M. Porterfield, Delaware Libraries’ Statewide Social Innovator, takes to heart the Social Innovation (SI) mission to “help you find and take your next step”. The SI programming started with job seeker and small business programming, but quickly added various AmeriCorps VISTA programs including Social Sustainability, Healthy Futures, Literacy and Telehealth. Collaboration with nonprofits and government agencies are key to SI’s sustainability. This is a large part of Alta’s day to day work: networking and putting all the pieces together. Her early career started with running a placement agency after being awarded the top Texas placement counselor at age 25. She learned early on that a successful project requires empowering the team with resources, support and trust. Her team has won countless national and regional awards during her 10 plus years with Delaware Libraries

Objectives:
  • Identify Delaware Libraries’ layered needs, partners, and history to start a statewide telehealth/teleservice network in public libraries.
  • Assess the lessons learned piloting the program and the approach that the Social Innovation team created to improve and adapt the program towards community needs.
  • Evaluate the library’s telehealth/teleservice network and reframe the project to address your community needs.
  • Adapt and design an online guide of telehealth services resources to meet community needs.

This project supports the mission of the NNLM by improving the public’s access to information and enabling them to make informed decisions about their health through the national initiative of Briding the Digital Divide.
