Subaward Project

Development of health education materials for women with Mullerian Anomalies

Our project will build upon the outcomes achieved in our current project (Identifying health information gaps
and opportunities to support optimum care and education of females with Mullerian Anomalies) by the
development of patient-focused health education material for women with Mullerian Anomalies (MAs). The
insights informed from our Region 4 patient and provider health information audit, and our consultations with
providers, will inform the foundation of our proposed project to develop patient focused education material (via
a Delphi style consensus development involving a panel of patients and providers in Region 4). This will
specifically be in the form of a set of FAQs for females with MAs. We will also canvass this same panel to learn
of the best approaches to ultimately disseminating these FAQ’s in a future funded outreach effort. As females
with MAs (gynecological birth defects found in approximately 7% of the general female population1) are a
National Institutes of Health Sexual and Gender Minority health disparity population2, efforts such as ours can
ultimately assist in addressing the current gaps in access to health care and health information for this
population.
