Grief 101: Improving Grief Literacy in our Community

At Sharing Kindness our tagline is "start the conversation". We want to have courageous and informed conversations about death and loss, about mental health and suicide, and about grief. Dr. Mary-Frances O'Connor writes, "For as long as there have been human relationships, we have struggled with the overwhelming nature of grief following the death of a loved one". Our peer grief group participants share that they often feel unheard and unsupported in their grief - the result of a fairly grief illiterate society. We propose a partnership with our local libraries on the Cape & Islands to educate, to inform and to make resources available that will improve grief literacy for all in our shared community.
